Advertising Jobs
Advertising is big business, and the industry is constantly on the look out for innovative and creative individuals to fill available advertising jobs. There are numerous roles to fill, each offering a great deal of satisfaction, given that they tend to allow the individual to follow the campaign through, from initial design to completion.
The following are examples of types of advertising jobs. The roles will vary slightly depending on which form media they are concerned with, whether it be television, radio, internet, mail drops or posters.
If you’re interested in the project management of a client’s campaign, then a job as an advertising account manager may be for you. The main responsibility is to ensure that the advertising campaign is produced on time and on budget. For a greater responsibility (and salary!) there is the opportunity to progress to an advertising account executive.
If you’re more interested in developing the campaign, you may be more suited to a career as an advertising account planner. This role can be specialised further, into a visual art director or an advertising copywriter. The art director is concerned entirely with the visual side of the campaign, and will develop this in accordance with a brief from the client. By contrast, the copywriter deals solely with the words of the advertisement, and is responsible for catchphrases and slogans etc.
Alternatively, if you have a creative mind, you could put this skill to good use as a media planner, and use it, along with factual analysis in order to develop appropriate advertising strategies.
Another key job within advertising is media buyer. This role is particularly important as the buyer is responsible for ensuring that the advertising campaign reaches the highest number of the target audience by purchasing suitable advertising space. This should be done at the lowest possible price to the client.
The sizes of the salaries of the above roles vary greatly depending on the size of the company you work for, and the size of the clients with which they deal.
