Audit Jobs

Interested in numbers...

An audit is essentially the evaluation, usually of a company or an organisation, often by an independent group, and it is within these groups where audit jobs lie. The most common type of audit is the financial audit, where employees of the independent bodies scrutinize a company’s financial statements to ensure that its interested parties have been presented with a fair representation of its performance and position. Tax authorities and banks, for example, may also have an interest in proof from independent auditors that the finances are accurate.

It is not only financial auditors who are recruiting. There are new, fast-growing auditing companies which deal with sectors such as health the environment. Auditors are employed in these sectors to review performance and to assess whether the infrastructures in place are working as they should be. There are also audit jobs available in ICT, where auditors check that systems in place are safeguarding assets as well as maintaining data integrity. There is also a national audit office which scrutinizes public spending on behalf of the government.

Auditors are required to make site visits, where they will monitor and measure spending. They then have to document and report their findings. On top of this, auditors provide advice for their clients, as well as creating action plans with them.

It is also worth noting that there are plenty of opportunities to progress to more senior positions in this job. Comprehensive training culminating in a professional qualification is also provided. Salaries start between around £20,000 and £30,000, which can increase considerably on promotion.
