Corporate Finance jobs require that the candidate has a real passion for business as it involves planning to help companies make the most of their resources and improving their value. The corporate financier is also employed to provide information about the financial protection of the organisation.

The job involves a great deal of account management which is done in light of monthly forecasts, which are designed, implemented and monitored by the corporate financier. Furthermore, he or she has the responsibility of formulating business strategies for the future, which make the most efficient use of the organisation’s resources.

For corporate finance jobs, you need to have the CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accounts) Professional Certificate, for which you can be entered on completion of a relevant degree (2:1 classification or higher) or the CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting.

In terms of progression within this job, this is dependent on skills developed and experienced gained (of course on top of successful completion of each level of the CIMA qualifications). It is worth noting that working on specific projects may help you gain specialist expertise if you prefer not working in a too general role.
