Electrician courses offer students a change of career

With the current economic downturn, this may not seem like an ideal time to change careers. But for those willing to take the plunge and follow a different career path, there can be great rewards - even during a recession.

With the current economic downturn, this may not seem like an ideal time to change careers. But for those willing to take the plunge and follow a different career path, there can be great rewards - even during a recession.

At RF Training we offer a variety of courses to an ever-growing number of students – all of whom are looking to change careers and take control of their lives, regardless of the recession. Denise Watt-Pringle recently decided to change her career and join one of our electrician courses in Manchester, now she is running her own electrician business and said of her decision to change career:

“From my first meeting to have a look around at RF Training, I knew it was the correct way to go for my change in career. Everything about the course was explained to me and I felt very much at ease even though my dealings with electrics were extremely limited... I am now out and about doing electrics for my own business and a member of the competent person’s scheme”

Vocational courses like plumbing, gas and electrician courses not only offer a chance to change career – they also provide an opportunity for students to start their own business. Another electrician course graduate, Richard Baynham, said he is “now looking to go self-employed”, adding: “I now feel confident that I have the skills to pursue my new career.”

Because of the benefits of vocational courses, more students than ever are turning to them rather than traditional qualifications like A-Levels. According to Pearson, the education publisher who provide BTECs, the take-up of vocational courses like plumbing and electrician courses has risen significantly over the past few years – with over half a million students receiving BTECs this year.

So, instead of being a bad time to think about a change of career – now appears to be the perfect time to take the plunge.  The rise in the take up of vocational courses means there are now more choices than ever for people wanting to change career and even start their own business, from plumbing and electrician courses to hairdressing, performing arts and beautician courses.

RF Training offer vocational plumbing, gas and electrician courses from two custom built training centres in Birmingham and Manchester.
